Why Every Man Needs Time With God
Mar 08, 2026
Strength Begins With Scripture
Many men attempt to build strength through effort alone.
They focus on work, productivity, and discipline.
But Scripture reveals something deeper.
True strength begins with God’s Word.
Without time in Scripture, a man’s foundation becomes weak.
With Scripture, a man gains wisdom, direction, and stability.
The Power of God’s Word
Joshua 1:8 instructs:
“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night.”
Psalm 1 describes the man who delights in God’s Word:
“He is like a tree planted by streams of water.”
Jesus Himself said in Matthew 4:4:
“Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
God’s Word nourishes the soul.
It strengthens the heart.
It shapes a man’s thinking.
The Example of Jesus
Even Jesus regularly withdrew to spend time with the Father.
Luke 5:16 says:
“Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.”
If the Son of God made time for prayer and communion with the Father, how much more do we need it?
Time with God produces clarity and strength.
A Modern Example
Many leaders throughout history have maintained daily time with Scripture.
Men like George Washington and Abraham Lincoln regularly read the Bible for wisdom and guidance.
They understood that leadership requires more than human insight.
It requires divine wisdom.
Building the Habit
Daily time with God does not require perfection.
Start simple.
Read Scripture.
Reflect on its meaning.
Pray honestly.
Consistency matters more than length.
Even a few minutes daily can reshape a man’s life over time.
Time with God strengthens a man’s inner life, but it is often reinforced by discipline and accountability. When men pursue spiritual growth together, the habit becomes easier to maintain. This connection between discipline and growth is explored in Why Discipline Builds Strong Men.
Final Charge
Strong men build their lives on truth.
And truth begins with God’s Word.
Stand firm. Live boldly.
Stop Drifting
